Educated at Eaton and Trinity College, Cambridge, Boris Starling graduated with a first in History and then began work as a journalist for newspapers such as the Sun and the Daily Telegraph before he started working for Control Risks, a company which specialises in kidnap negotiations, clandestine investigations and risk analysis. He has written five novels using his own name and three under the pseudonym Daniel Blake. He writes thrillers which he situates in different historical periods and locations, including London, Aberdeen, Moscow and Gibraltar. His first novel Messiah (1999) was a commercial and critical success and was adapted for television by the BBC.
