Born in Footscray (Melbourne, Victoria), Kerry Greenwood studied Law and English at Melbourne University. She has worked as a folk singer, factory hand, director, producer, translator, costume-maker and cook. She works for the Victorian Legal Aid as a solicitor and is a prolific writer. She has published twenty novels of the series Phryne Fisher Mysteries, seven novels of the Corinna Chapman mysteries, more than twenty other novels, plays and non-fiction texts. She won the Ned Kelly Lifetime Achievement Award from the Australian Crime Writers Association (2003) as well as the 13th Davitt Awards for Australian Women´s Crime Writing from Sisters in Crime´s Inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award (2013).
