Nicole Watson is the Indigenous-Australian writer Sam Watson’s daughter, and a member of the Birri-Gubba people of Northern Queensland, who form part of the Murri First Nations of Australia. Watson’s professional experience in service of the Indigenous community heavily informs The Boundary; after obtaining a Bachelor’s and Master’s of Law by the University of Queensland, she was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1999. She has worked for Legal Aid Queensland, the National Native Title Tribunal, the Queensland Environmental Protection Agency and as a columnist for the National Indigenous Times. She has also pursued an academic career as a senior research fellow at the Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning, University of Technology, Sydney.
