Sam Eastland is the pseudonym used by American author Paul Watkins (1964) for his Inspector Pekkala crime series set in Stalin’s Russia. The first in the series is Eye of the Red Tsar (2010). Eastland has so far published seven Pekkala novels, the last so far in 2016, Berlin Red. Paul Watkins is a teacher and writer-in-residence at The Peddie School. He attended the Dragon School, Oxford, and Eaton and received a B.A. from Yale University, New York. He currently lives in Hightstown, New Jersey, with his wife and children.
