Sam Hawken began his writing career with The Dead Women of Juarez (2011), which he wrote explicitly to shed a light on the feminicidios taking place in Ciudad Juarez. It was shortlisted by the Crime Writers’ Association for the John Creasy New Blood Dagger. This has been followed by four other Mexico-US border crime stories – Tequila Sunset (2012), Juarez Dance (2013), La Frontera (2013) and Missing (2014). His latest, The Night Charter (2015), takes place in Miami and Cuba. When not writing, Sam Hawken is a husband and a father of a son with autism and active in autism- and special needs-related causes.
